Daphne Krinos makes contemporary jewellery
that can be worn easily and comfortably. She enjoys the restrictions that
this imposes on the creative process and likes to take into account the
kind of material the piece of jewellery will be best on.
Daphne looks at
a great deal of metalwork and jewellery from various periods and cultures
but does not try to place influences directly from those. Her ideas
come from the world around her; the immediate environment, the natural
world, art and architecture and innumerable man-made objects, family
and background and emotions. |

Gail Klevan's innovative hand crafted jewellery
has evolved by continuous experimentation with modern acrylic materials.Ê The
pattern and drawing refract dense colour with metallic gold and silver
undertones across smooth and sculpted surfaces.
Though bold, the jewellery is designed to adorn and flatter the wearer
and is suitable with either casual or formal clothing and is comfortable
and easy to wear for both everyday and special occasions. Like the Bakelite
jewellery of the 1930's, these elegant and striking designs will become
the classics of tomorrow. |

respected jewellery designers on the contemporary jewellery scene today.
Winner of three categories of the prestigious Tahitian Pearl Trophy 2005,
her unique jewellery is destined to be the sought after and collectible
jewellery of the future. In her own words, she describes what inspires
her:
My work is primarily a mix of gold and silver. I like the contrast and
the tension between the two metals. I like a rough, oxydised surface
next to a highly polished edge. I like a sparkling diamond on rusty metal.
I like the excitement created by Tahiti pearls. I like the mystery of
black pearls on woven gold and silver. I like simplicity in design and
I like to incorporate it all into jewellery that is easy to wear and
special |
