About the item

The Ashanti tribe of West Africa are famed for their beautiful work in gold, and for the lost wax techniques that they employ to make jewellery. This bead is from a 19th century gold necklace that was passed to me by a relative, and we've recast it in silver as we love its simplicity. The circle in Africa is a symbol of eternal life and hence a popular motif in art and jewellery. A clean, yet detailed bead makes this charm an interesting one to team with one of our gemstones, whilst acting as a reminder of the eternal circle of life.
